Hiking tip up to the Revolving Restaurant Hoher Kasten.
The cable car takes you comfortably up from Brülisau. Up on the mountain you are greeted by a magnificent 360-degree view of the Alpstein chains, out into the Appenzellerland, the St. Gallen Rhine valley, the Vorarlberg and Allgäu Alps. On the well-maintained mountain hiking trail, the path follows a pleasant gradient over to the prominent neighbouring peak, the Kamor. After just a few turns on the little road, you can take a shortcut across alpine pastures down to the Zapfen. An idyllic ascent across rough pastures leads you to the Resspass. From here it is worth taking a short detour to the Forstseeli Lake. Back on the route, follow the path towards Hintere Waldschaft. Depending on the state of vegetation, you will come across a carpet of blue gentian, "Hennenäugli" and even the lady's slipper orchid blooming here. Across pastures, past traditional farmhouses, you hike down to Brülisau - with the Alps constantly in sight.
