Thurgau

Holiday bliss in the "Apple Canton"

Sweeping views across the water and mountains close enough to touch: on the southern shore of Lake Constance, the Thurgau landscape stretches out across rolling hills. Whether on foot, by bike or by canoe, Thurgau offers the perfect terrain for every activity. And with its many unique accommodation options, Thurgau demonstrates just how modern and innovative a rural region can be.

Give your hair a quick rub-dry, slip out of your wet swimwear and continue cycling towards the sunset. If you’re the sort who can’t sit still on holiday, Thurgau offers not only swimming, sailing and hiking, but also camel rides or the chance to feel the wind in your hair on 150 kilometres of inline-skating routes. The landscape is lush and verdant, with roads winding their way through apple orchards everywhere. The apple trees characterise the landscape in every season: in spring, when the trees are in bloom, Thurgau is draped in a romantic blanket of blossoms. In summer, the fruits hang heavy on the trees. Every third Swiss apple grows in Thurgau. By the roadside and in farm shops, the farmers also sell juice, apple rings and many other home-made specialities.
