Seealp

Brother Klaus (September 25)

The down-to-earth mountain chapel stands on the headland in the middle of old, gnarled fir trees not far from the Seealpsee.

In the interior of the wooden chapel, which is open on the east side, the carved wooden statue of Hi. Brother Klaus, a work of the sculptor H.U. Steiger, is enthroned above the altar table . In the copper-roofed turret with a fire-gilded ball hangs a 42 kg bell with the tone h from the Eschmann bell foundry in Rickenbach from 1967, donated by Jakob Dörig-Dobler. The chapel has 48 seats, electric lighting and is equipped with a loudspeaker system.

History
For years, there had been a wayside shrine with a sacrificial box near the path to the Seealp. Thanks to the many donations and a generous donation from J. Fässler, the owner of the Forelle at the time, the realisation of a chapel building was within reach. Numerous donors and contractors contributed to the early construction. Master builder J.B. Hersche drew up the plans. The roof truss and turret were built free of charge by carpenter Josef Manser. Construction began in 1966 and on 30 July 1967 the chapel was inaugurated by Pastor Anton Würmli in the presence of 800 believers.
