Schwarzenegg-Kapelle
St. Martin (11 November)
Beautifully situated chapel on a spur of the Fähnern in front of the mountain background of Kamor and Hohen Kasten on Schwarzeneggstrasse in the direction of Aulen.
The chapel consists of a rectangular building with a three-sided choir, a slightly curved gable roof and an open, pointed helmeted turret in good old form, which blends very atmospherically into the landscape. The door and hipped roof date from 1865. The windows are made in Biedermeier Gothic. In the interior there is a vaulted field ceiling and a baroque altar with the picture of St. Martin from "F.L. 1923". The bell is decorated with pictures of the crucifixion of Christ and the Mother of God. It was cast in 1801 by Karl Rosenlaecher in Constance. In the interior there are four small kneeling beds. The chapel is closed.
History
The family of Captain Martin Fritsche moved to the alp every year with their cattle. Because of a rampant cattle epidemic, Fritsche vowed that if he was spared from it, he would build a chapel. It is to be built where the last cow remains when the first cow enters the barn on the return from the alp. In 1697 he donated the chapel on Schwarzenegg. On 24 February, a votive tablet with the names Johann Baptist Fritsche and Philippa Schürpf was brought to this chapel . Around 1865, the chapel was partially altered and later renovated several times. In 1978, a complete exterior renovation took place and the turret was given a permanent copper roof instead of Eternit. In 1985, Johann Herovits professionally renovated the interior.
