Schloss Arbon

The fortified late Roman fort Arbor Felix ("the happy tree") dates from 250 AD, which the Romans had to leave again at the time of the Migration Period around 400 AD.
Later, Arbon Castle became episcopal Constance property. Bishop Hugo von Hohenlandenberg expanded the complex in 1510 - 1518 in the form it presents itself today. Today, Arbon Castle is a regionally important cultural meeting centre and also houses the Historical Museum of Arbon.
