Schau- und Lehrgarten
The publicly accessible show and teaching garden of the Education and Counselling Centre (BBZ) in Güttingen builds a bridge between agriculture and the population: on 300 square metres, a lot of interesting facts about fruit growing are taught.
The show and teaching garden consists of an apple orchard with two apple varieties. Next to it rises a small tower, the viewing platform, where no one can escape the sight of the interesting landscape. In addition, peep tubes draw attention to topics such as the importance of water in agriculture, the cooperation of agriculture with schools or hail nets, which are important for protection against hail and cockchafers.
There is also an annual turntable on the tower that explains what a fruit grower does all year round. And: Taking an apple without asking is allowed in the show garden.
