Rathausbrunnen, Thomas-Bornhauser-Brunnen
The town hall fountain in Weinfelden, also known as the Thomas Bornhauser Fountain, combines the history of water supply with the memory of one of the most important statesmen of Thurgau.
The sculpture shows an unknown mother with two children and is symbolic of the people and the coming generation. It reminds us that freedom, education and democracy are passed on from one generation to the next. At the same time, it points to the often overlooked role of women in history and is often used in local tours as a symbol of women whose deeds were historically significant but whose names have been forgotten.
