Rapisau |St. Johann-|Kapelle

St. Johann zum "Guten Brunnen"

North of the state road to Enggenhütten, below the  "Waldegg".

The floor plan of the small prayer room shows baroque touches. The external appearance with the canopy supported by four columns, the three large pointed arch windows and the cross-gable turret identifies the building as a real picture-book chapel. In the niche above the canopy stands a figure of a saint from the 17th century. The valuable altarpiece comes from the old church in Brülisau. A Baroque figure of St. John the Evangelist was created in 1700 and the circular painting above it dates from the 18th century. The stations are attached to the side walls as printed panels. In the turret hangs a little bell by Gabriel Felix from Feldkirch from 1761. The chapel has 20 seats and is closed.

History
The first owner of the chapel was Moritz Stark in 1629. Around 1647, the "effigy" in Rapisau was expanded into a devotional chapel for 37 guilders and 5 batzen. In 1698/99 a thorough restoration took place. In the second half of the 19th century, major structural changes were made. Under Pastor Breitenmoser, the chapel was restored in 1925. In 1983, a comprehensive restoration was carried out by August lnauen according to an expert opinion by Dr. Josef Grünenfelder. Since then, the chapel has been repainted several times.
