"The human body in its power and beauty is what captivates and occupies me in an outstanding way. I repeatedly try to wrest nature's deepest secrets from it and express them through my works. Since birds were always the first to appear after the Nile flooded, the Egyptians associated the phoenix with the annually renewing Osiris. The firebird symbolises eternal life, resurrection and life after death."
