With its eventful history, the parish church shapes the townscape of the municipality of Triesen.

The original parish church of St. Gallus was located 120 m northeast of the present church and was first mentioned around 1458. Excavations have uncovered parts of this earlier church building. The current church on Dorfstrasse was built between 1841 and 1843 according to plans by the Viennese architect Georg Wingelmüller. In the years 1991 to 1994, the church was extensively rebuilt and redesigned.
