Ortsmuseum Amriswil
The local museum is dedicated to the history of Amriswil and the region with various permanent and temporary exhibitions. Admission to the museum is free.
The museum was opened in 1988 on the initiative of four Amriswil residents in the former horse stables of the Protestant parsonage. What began with 120 exhibits is now an interesting journey through the history of Amriswil. Since its reopening in 2008 in the former factory halls of a textile company, hundreds of interested people have visited the museum on Palmensteg every year. The museum's focus is on exhibits on industrial history, especially on the textile and shoe industry. Special attractions include the circular knitting machine, which was developed and built in Amriswil between 1920 and 1940, or the first Saurer weaving machine, which is still in operation today, which the founder of the Amriswil company Cornella once bought.
