Obstgarten Hemberg
An orchard at almost 1000 meters above sea level. Around 200 varieties of fruit, wild fruit and berries, historic fruit trail with varieties from 2000 years, curiosities, wild bees, hedge, pond and dry stone walls. Guided tours are offered for groups, with a tasting of wild fruit products on request.
The orchard in Hemberg combines a high-trunk orchard with a modern low-trunk orchard. Old and new varieties right next to each other impressively show the development of Swiss fruit growing in recent decades. The 105 tall trunks are mostly traditional apple, pear, plum, cherry and plum varieties. You will learn about curiosities such as the "pear-shaped apple", the "dead apple" or the "Allerheiligenchriesi" and can immerse yourself in the variety of fruit of bygone times on the historical nature trail. In the wild fruit hedge, large-fruited varieties are presented and in the permaculture garden, favourable mixed cultivation combinations are shown.
In suitable places, piles of stones and branches have been used to provide shelter for small animals as well as nesting aids for birds and insects. A biotope with dry stone walls invites you to linger. A circular path (approx. 500m) on sand and gravel connects the individual elements.
The entire facility is wheelchair accessible.
