Nymphenbrunnen
The Nymph Fountain in Arbon is an artistically designed bronze fountain. Three sea creatures elegantly wind around the fountain column: two graceful, girlish nymphs whose legs merge into flowing fins, and a male triton with a hint of a dorsal fin and scale-like body.
The dynamic depiction gives the fountain an almost fairytale-like aura and is reminiscent of Arbon's close connection to water. The sculpture was originally commissioned by Adolph Saurer and created by the sculptor August Bösch from Ebnat (1857-1911). Originally, the group of figures belonged to the entrance to the private harbour at the Saurer Werk I (built in 1903). The sculpture itself was erected in 1907 as the basis of a candelabra. Today, as a fountain, it is an impressive testimony to industrial history and at the same time a playful work of art in public space.
