Naturerlebnis Schwendiseen

free

Above Unterwasser in upper Toggenburg are the Schwendiseen. They are located in a flat bog area of national importance and are characterized by their scenic beauty.

When the Schwendig Glacier began to thaw around 14,000 years ago, it left behind a hollow in which the lakes were dammed. Mainly due to the silting up of the lake shores, the moors were created in the following millennia, which bloom between May and September. Learn more about landscape history, wildlife, forest and flora on a leisurely walk along the nature discovery trail. Bathing at your own risk.
Fishing permits for Lake Schwendi are available via the Fishing Route App . All information can be found on the website of the Obertoggenburg Fishing Association.
Access and tour possible for wheelchair users. Partly gravel path, rest of the way on wooden boardwalk; is cleared of snow in winter, depending on the weather conditions. Disabled toilets available at the Hotel Stump's Alpenrose.
