Napoleonturm Hohenrain
On the viewing platform of the Napoleon Tower, which can be reached via 200 steps, a magnificent panoramic view awaits you. However, today's tower is not the first; Louis Napoléon III built the "Belvedère zu Hohenrain" in 1829.
The later Emperor of France, who spent his youth on the nearby Arenenberg, is said to have enjoyed the panoramic view of the country even then. According to tradition, there was a dance floor, a small restaurant and a telescope on the three platforms. In addition, the old tower, which was demolished just 25 years later due to rot, cost six Kreuzer entrance fees – at that time at least about three hourly wages.
The new Napoleon Tower, an elegant wooden structure and over 30 meters high, is free of charge. And on the 200 steps, each representing a decade, two millennia of regional history can still be discovered, with all the important events and developments. The best way to reach the tower is on the hiking trail or by bike on the Seerücken Route (No. 82) between Wäldi and Helsighausen.
