Mädchenbrunnen
The fountain of the Arbon Beautification Association tells of commitment and local community and is now a popular eye-catcher on the square. Its history reflects both provisional solutions and the creative implementation of ideas.
At Easter 1946, the fountain could be presented to the public for the first time, but initially only with a provisional flower box as the end of the fountain column, maintained by the neighbor Mrs. Hungerbühler. Thanks to a gratifying profit from the gymnastics festival in the summer of 1946, 600 francs could be transferred to the Beautification Association to purchase a suitable sculpture for the fountain column. Since 1947, the 50th anniversary of the Arbon Beautification Association, the fountain figure "The Girl" has crowned the column and given the fountain its present, appealing design.
