Loos-Kapelle Weissbad
St. Anthony of Padua (13 June)
Small, inconspicuous prayer house above the Loos on the left side below the Weissbad -Triebern road.
It is an old-fashioned, small prayer house with the dimensions of 2.9 x 3.4 m and 2.65 m high and without roof turrets, but with a wrought-iron cross. The inner still houses the original lnventar. The floor is made of brick slabs; it has a hipped ceiling and a late baroque altar. On the altarpiece there is an interesting traditional costume picture of the donors as a rural painting around 1750. In addition to the donor family and the four deceased children on the floor, several other people are depicted on the left side. Due to an improper renovation, however, the picture has lost much of its clarity. Inside has 4 small prayer benches.
The chapel is covered with shingles and closed.
History
The chapel was already mentioned before 1650. On 17 June 1742, Antoni Jeger donated a Zeddel of 50 fl to the chapel and could be regarded as its founder. The chapel was built in the same year. Shortly before the turn of the last century, the chapel was restored. The altarpiece was made by Hans Herovits from Goldach; the cross comes from a parish church in Thurgau. The chapel was reconsecrated on 30 May 2001.
