The NationalMuseum looks at the eventful history of Liechtenstein and also contains a natural history collection.
The Liechtenstein NationalMuseum offers an insight into the most diverse areas of Liechtenstein through a varied and unique collection. The exhibits document the history, art, culture, customs, industry, nature and environment of the country.
The building of the Liechtenstein NationalMuseum has an eventful history, with the origins of the basic structure dating back to 1438. The building, now combined with the former «Verweserhaus», was a manorial tavern, customs station and seat of government. From 1998 to 2003, the building was remodelled and an extension was added against the castle slope.
Fun fact: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is also known to have stayed in the former tavern in 1788.
