Liechtenstein FarmhouseMuseum
The Liechtenstein FarmhouseMuseum is located on the Eschnerberg in the municipality of Schellenberg in one of the oldest and well-preserved wooden houses dating back to 1518 and shows the construction methods, living conditions and habits of the time up to the beginning of the 20th century.
The house has been a listed building since 1993; one year later, the Liechtenstein NationalMuseum opened the FarmhouseMuseum in it. The Biedermann House, as it is also known, is also a testimony to late medieval settlement, building and economic methods in the Principality of Liechtenstein.
Built in 1518, the house has changed location several times: in 1687, 1793/1794 and most recently in 1992/1993. 300 years ago, when it was first moved, the beams were numbered so that the building could be rebuilt in a different location. The house consists of a squared timber block construction insulated with moss and lichen. Even pegs and nails were made of wood, iron was avoided. This extremely fascinating house has been open to the public as a rural living museum since 1994.
