St. Peter's Church stands on the walls of a Roman fort from the 4th century and is considered the oldest testimony to Christianization in Liechtenstein.

The church of St. Peter in Schaan is one of the oldest sacred buildings in the region and dates back to a Roman fort from the 4th century. As early as the 5th century, a baptistery was built there, which is connected to a burial ground of the Christianized Rhaeto-Romanic population. The church was part of the Roman imperial estate and later fell to the Carolingian Empire. Around 1450, a completely new building was built under the Lords of Brandis. After a fire in 1849, the church was structurally altered several times, most recently in 1958 and 1995. It has been a listed building since 1951.
