Hundgalgen-|Kapelle Appenzell
Today, the small chapel stands somewhat depressed behind the Hundgalgen development on the Chlosbächli.
The small church (3.4 x 3.4 m) is an architecturally simple chapel with a three-sided choir end, a new turret and neo-Gothic windows. The centre of the eternit-roofed chapel is the renovated rural 72 cm high wooden Pietà from the 17th or 18th century. The small bell has a diameter of 30 cm and the tone "d".
The chapel has six small kneeling benches and is closed.
History
The small sanctuary was built in 1874 by founder Johann Jakob Dörig, Napoleon, owner of the dog gallows. Dörig is said to have donated the chapel out of concern for his five naughty boys. What if chapels were still donated today for the same reasons!?
In 1970, the Steingruber family had the chapel restored by August lnauen. The masonry, roofing and turret cladding were overhauled; the chapel was given a new brick floor and new seating. On 31 May 1970, about 100 worshippers attended the consecration of the newly renovated chapel.
