Historische Papiermaschine PM1

In Bischofszell, the PM1, the oldest paper machine in Switzerland, can be seen.
In 1928, the era of PM1 began. With 420 railway wagons, the dismantled paper machine and the material for the specially built hall were transported from Heidenheim, Germany, to Bischofszell. The delivery of the 18-ton smoothing cylinder caused a veritable crowd.
The PM1, which is driven by leather belts via a complex transmission, is now the oldest paper machine in Switzerland. It was in service until 1991, when paper production in Bischofszell was discontinued.
