Espel Pavillon
Enjoy tarte flambée, hot soups, and Schlorzifladen on the spacious sun terrace right next to the slopes.
The Espel Pavilion was built in 2017 directly at the valley station of the Stöfeli cable car. Just as with the previous projects, the summit restaurant and the Stöfeli cable car, the architectural firm Herzog & de Meuron was commissioned for the design.
Due to its rectangular wooden construction with the short ridge, the pavilion is embedded in the landscape and asserts itself as a building type in its own right, where ridge and façade represent an original connection. The relationship to the summit building is clearly recognizable thanks to the wooden façade.
With its spacious sun terrace, it invites guests to linger and offers guests space to enjoy Toggenburg specialities directly at the edge of the slopes. In the cosy dining room there are further places available for relaxing and enjoying cold and stormy winter days.
