The idyllic location, the clear water and two mountain inns make the Seealpsee one of the most popular excursion destinations in the Alpstein. Treat yourself to a refreshing swim or take a spin on the rowing boat.
Worth knowing:
In July 2009 and 2010, the Seealpsee turned red due to a high density of the alga Tovellia sanguinea, a species of dinoflagellate. This thrives particularly well in nutrient-poor cold-water lakes at altitudes above 1000 meters.
The view over the Seealpsee towards the Säntis is shown on the labels of the Appenzell beer "Quöllfrisch".
