Dreifaltigkeits-Kapelle Schwende

Holy Trinity (Sunday after Pentecost)

The chapel stands on the east-facing Schwende-Wasserauen hiking trail (Brandweg) on the hill above Schwende.

The grey chapel (3.4 x 3.9 m) is of folklore interest because of the interior furnishings with devotional objects. Inside the chapel there are two beautiful angels from the old church of Schwende. There is also a very beautiful statue of the Mother of God. A picture of Mary Help of Christians can also be seen on the side wall. The chapel has three small kneelers and is closed.

History
There used to be an older prayer house there. Fearing foot-and-mouth disease, the property owner had the small meadow chapel of St. Trinitatis built 20 m away in the homeland of Franz Anton Hersche in 1880 as a replacement. On 20 July 1862, this was consecrated by the episcopal commissioner. In 1973, the chapel was given a new Eternit roof. In 1990, it was extensively renovated inside and out, a seepage pipe was built and the roof top was re-gilded.
