Command Bunker Border Brigade 8

The Haslen command post was built in the early 1960s and served the Swiss Army as a command post for Border Brigade 8 until 1996.

The Haslen command post was built in the early 1960s and served the Swiss Army as a command post for the Border Brigade 8 until 1996. The facility includes over 30 offices and dormitories, machine room, telephone exchange, kitchen and soldiers' parlor as well as other ancillary rooms.

With the help of many members of the last active brigade staff and others it was possible to refurbish the work of a brigade staff during the Cold War on the entire lower floor of the barracks and make it explainable and tangible for the visitor. Furthermore, the Cold War itself is the subject of the exhibition and is examined from various angles.

Equipped crew quarters, library, an elaborate terrain model (crossing of the Rhine by the Americans during World War II), various uniforms and, of course, the operational engine room round off the diverse museum facilities.
