In the first two stages, the Lake Constance Canoe Trail crosses the tranquil Untersee. Separated from the large Obersee, the 'Swabian Sea', by the Seerhein, the Untersee has its very own charms. Every year, up to 250,000 migratory birds use the shallow water areas and the extensive reed landscapes as winter quarters or stopovers on their journey. From the charming Gottlieben with its half-timbered buildings and the Drachenburg to the Franciscan monastery on the Werdinsel to the thousand-year-old Stein am Rhein with its charming old town centre, there is a lot to discover from the boat. Not only because of the numerous secluded bathing spots on the banks of the Untersee and Rhine, a breather should be planned in between. In the cosy harbour restaurants, fresh Lake Constance fishing is also waiting for your tasting. Pleasantly carried by the current, the third stage glides past historic houses and imposing monasteries as well as numerous restaurants located on the lake. Once you have reached your destination, it is worth visiting the Munot, an old fortress and one of the highlights in Schauffhausen.
