Bezirk Oberegg

Oberegg, with its slightly more than 1800 inhabitants, can be described as a political and geographical uniqueness. In the turmoil of the religious war, the Obereggers joined the Catholic Innerrhoden and were separated from the rest of the canton as an enclave. This alone would probably not do justice to the term unique, the district area is once again split into three non-adjacent parts. Oberegg attracts visitors with its lively village centre and unique views from the surrounding hills – both towards Lake Constance and towards Alpstein. It is rightly considered an ideal starting and finishing point for extensive hill hikes and various refreshment stops in and around the village provide for the physical well-being.
