Alter Grenzstein
The Balzers boundary stone from 1735 commemorates the historical demarcation of the border between the Principality of Liechtenstein and Switzerland.
The boundary stone is a place steeped in history in the south of Liechtenstein. The well-known legend of "strong Jörg" is told around the stone: For a long time, there was no agreement between Balzers and Maienfeld as to where the border should run. The strong Balzner Jörg was therefore to carry the heavy boundary stone, which four Graubünden citizens had brought him groaning, as far south as possible. Where he first set the stone down, the boundary was finally determined.
