Aatalbrücke Neuhaus
In the course of the new road connection over the Ricken, the covered wooden bridge was built high above the ravine of the Aabach
The bridge, built in 1830, was without doubt the most difficult and expensive part of the whole road and has the following technical data: 25.60 m above the stream bed, 43.90 m length, 5 m road width, 4.64 m clear height.
The woodwork was awarded to master carpenter Franz Spiller from the Allgäu, who had lived in Rapperswil since 1823. Until 1971, this remarkable testimony to carpentry was able to cope with the entire ricke traffic. However, with the ever-increasing volume of traffic, it became the actual "bottleneck" of the Ricken connection and was replaced by a modern concrete bridge.
