Chäsmoos-|-Kapelle Steinegg

The chapel is located on the Steinegg-Eggerstanden road on the left-hand side in the Chäsmoos development.

The almost square chapel measuring 3.85 x 3.9 m has a slightly curved tiled roof and a square bell tower topped by a cross. Inside hangs a small bell, cast by the Grassmayr brothers in Feldkirch in 1882. It was donated by Johann Anton Räss. The picture of the Queen of Heaven as well as an edelweiss and gentian adorn the small bell.

In the chapel there is the most outstanding sculpture of the Virgin Mary with Child from all over lnnerrhoden. It was created by Michael Zürn around 1650. The rest of the furnishings consist of a rural painting "The Birth of Christ" from the 18th century and four reverse glass paintings (St. Genevieve, Agnes, Florian and George) from around 1800. The chapel has 4 benches and is closed.

History

The first mention of a chapel as "Bildlin im Büel" dates back to 1702. In 1772, the chapel was replaced by a simple new building. In 1882, the chapel was renovated and partly rebuilt. At the same time, a new tower was built under administrator Johann Anton Räss and a bell cast was arranged. Another renovation took place in 1958. In 1976 it was renovated again by the inhabitants of Steinegg; in 1980 the last renovation took place under August lnauen.
