The Free Time Area before the gates of Zürich
Gentle hills, wide plains, idyllic mountains, natural rivers and lakes, historic towns and villages – in addition to its scenic beauty, the Lake Zürich holiday region offers an abundance of fun, sport and adventure activities before the gates of Zürich.

Active sports on the Lake Zürich Round Trail
For once, it is not specific places, but the road and its pearls which are the destination. The Lake Zürich shows the diverse region from its sides. There are also many sports and leisure facilities and museums. With this, hiking purists, nature lovers, culture lovers, history lovers, gourmet fans and sports enthusiasts are all in for a real treat on the trail around the lake. The starting points can be freely chosen from among the ten stage locations. The route (a total of 124 km log) is well signposted with the number 84 from SchweizMobil.

The longest wooden bridge in Switzerland
The region was known by many travellers even in the Middle Ages. Lake Zürich lies on the route that the Jacobean pilgrims followed on their way to Santiago de Compostela via Rapperswil. At the time, it was an unsafe, tortuous wooden footbridge with loose planks which helped them across the lake. Since the 19th century a passable dam has allowed people to cross it at the narrowest point, between Rapperswil and Hurden. And, since 2001, there has also been a similar winding 841 metre long modern wooden bridge at the location of this footbridge.

A journey with the paddle steamer on Lake Zürich
Brightly polished navigation lights, scrubbed planks, nostalgically created rooms and with it the rhythmic pounding of the perfectly lubricated steam engine. A tour on Lake Zürich on one of the historical paddle steamers is a special experience, not least because you can watch the machinists at work, and the rotating blade wheels. Depending on your appetite, you can engage in culinary indulgement on the various dream boats, such as the "Schnitzel vessel" or the "Fondue vessel".
